This book was not a part of my curriculum, but my instructors recommended it to me and my classmates to supplement to haematology. I found this book very helpful and informative. I skipped the first few chapters regarding basic math, but others told me it was good review and helped cement the basic concepts that are built on later throughout the book. I have since finished tech school and passed my national board exam. I am extremely grateful that I made this purchase and would recommend this book to everybody.
Haven't really read through this book but skimmed through it and saw all the concepts I was currently going over in my vet tech math course in different chapters that are easily accessible. Passed my vet tech math final without reading it but was nervous to even take it without having read through this. (I'm literally the WORST at math! Always have been but hope to not be after I give this book an actual read!) Smaller than expected but I like that because I can pack it anywhere without it being bulky. My plan is to have a proper read of it before I take my VTNE and my anesthesia classes so I'm on my game and don't overdose an animal. Scary stuff but I don't trust myself enough in my math to NOT read this and just wing it!
Yes this is a book I had to buy, so whether I liked it or not it doesn't really matter! But I actually did like it. It had a nice refresher for some things and the new concepts were easily understood. It also is a handy size, easily put in your purse, bag whatever. Glad my professor chose this book.
My granddaughter is in vet tech school and the instructor was teaching from slides which for her was difficult to grasp. The book made it possible to understand what was being presented to the class on her terms.
This is my go to book for veterinary calculations. It's small and compact, and it very easy to use! Highly recommend this for any respectable veterinary professional!
I'm a beginning Vet Tech student. Many of these calculations are from high school days but the author makes them much easier to understand. The book clearly walks thru the steps of a problem and then shows the answer on the same page so you don't have to flip back and forth thru the pages. I even learned a new, easier way of finding lowest common denominators! I highly recommend this book for new students and more mature learners that could use a fresh approach.
I was very happy with this pocket sized book that explains in plain, non-math-type-person language how to do simple algebraic equations, corret your decimals and fractions, how to and then a few exercises with answers. I wish I'd had this in 8th grade, and it is an excellent review book for those of us who lose track of the numbers and "cancels" in our l o n g equations with too many L, mL, minutes, hours, etc. Worth the buy, even if not required.
Must have for techs’ and anyone who needs to figure doses/dosages
